Upload Images to the ISIC Archive
Contribute to the future of dermatologic care by sharing your dermatologic images with the ISIC Archive. We are grateful to all who have uploaded to this collective repository, which contains nearly 500,000 public images. Every contribution counts, whether you are publishing a dataset from a research study, for machine learning and AI development, or simply to present a rare case encountered in clinical practice!
Follow this step-by-step process
-
Review the ISIC Terms of Use Agreement.
-
Locate your images and compress them into a zip file.
-
Create a metadata (Excel or CSV) file associated with the images.
-
Download our metadata template.
-
Review the ISIC Data Dictionary for variable definitions.
-
-
Visit https://api.isic-archive.com/upload/select-or-create-contributor/.
-
Log in or create a new ISIC account (upper right corner of the page).
-
Select an existing Contributor or create a New Contributor (bottom of page).
-
Contributor is synonymous with institution. For example, images from Drs. Halpern’s clinic are uploaded under "Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center."
-
-
If uploading to an existing dataset, select that Cohort. If uploading to a new dataset, click New Cohort (bottom of the page) and fill out the template with a suitable name and description. Choose a Creative Commons license and specify an Attribution for how your images should be credited in citations.
-
For example, the Attribution specified by Drs. Halpern could be "Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center."
-
-
Next to Zip Files, select Add file and upload the zip created in step 2.
-
Next to Metadata Files, select Add file and upload the metadata table created in step 3.
-
Email support@isic-archive.com to inform us that you are finished, and we will do a final review before publishing to The Archive.
-
You have the option to keep your data hidden and unaccessible to general users for an embargo period of up to 1-year, which can be extended upon special request. This can be a good option for researchers who wish to expose the dataset only after their paper gets accepted by a journal. If you wish to utilize an embargo, please state this in your email.
